About the Artist
André Renoux was born in Oran, Algeria, in 1939, and when he died, much too young, in Paris in 2002, he was regarded as one of France’s national treasures.
The “father” of the Paris School of Urban Realism, the most credentialed Urban Realist (and one of the most respected in Europe), Renoux was known as the peintre-poete (painter-poet) for the beauty of his images. At home in many cities, he made Paris uniquely his own, capturing its history and soul, its sounds, smells, tastes, and textures — just as you would find them in your own experience and imagination.
Please take a few moments to read some remembrances of André here.
We currently have a small number of signed Renoux limited-edition serigraphs and APs available for sale, as well as an original canvas.
Air De Chasse
André Renoux produced this limited-edition serigraph in 1994. This is the last remaining Artist's Proof (of 12 APs) from that edition — in fact, the last remaining print; with the exception of this AP the edition has long been entirely sold out. It is hand-signed and numbered by the artist.
Air de Chasse depicts "The Hunter's Antique Store," located between the river and Boulevard Saint-Germain in Saint-Germain des Près. After the second World War this part of Paris was where you would find art, jazz, and cafés, it was home to new-wave film-makers and philosophers. More recently many luxury shops have located here; it is also the antique dealers' square mile. They are signed and numbered as "AP" (artist's proof) or "EA" (épreuve d'artiste).

La Mère Catherine
This 9.5" h × 13" w original oil on canvas was painted in the early 1960s by André Renoux. Very few works by Renoux depict people; this is an unusual example. The painter in the foreground appears to be a humorous self-portrait.

Limited Edition
Because our company represented André Renoux for more than 25 years and helped exclusively arrange for the release of these select images in limited-edition serigraph form, most of the Renoux pieces we have listed are available as artist's proofs (APs). These were given directly to us by the artist. They are signed and numbered as "AP" (artist's proof) or "EA" (épreuve d'artiste). Produced in very small numbers, and originally the personal property of the artist, APs often have greater value than ordinary limited-edition serigraphs. In some cases we have both available.
There were only 17 limited editions created in this serigraphy medium.
André Renoux passed away in January 2002. We believe that one day, these serigraphs will hold a great value.
Enjoy Paris through André Renoux's eyes. He truly was one of the great masters of the 20th century.
We miss him.
