- - The Story - -


Throughout the year, Denis Spanek attends various food shows, both national and international. During such a show, he met a man who had developed a very unusual herbal vegetable base in a concentrated form. The idea was that a cook could add any kind of liquid to the base ­ from wine to bourbon to fruit juice to root beer ­ and make a sauce to compliment any recipe.

This herbal vegetable base was combined with apple juice on pork kabobs, bourbon on ribs, pineapple juice on little chicken drumettes, and on and on. People sampled a choice of several combinations and agreed it was the hit of the show!

Denis convinced his new found friend to make up a special formula of this sauce just for his Spanek Family customers. He did, and now we offer it to you as the Spanek Roux. It is the perfect base for any kind of sauce you want to make.

Depending on the desired strength, mix 1 tablespoon Roux to 1-5 tablespoons of any liquid, be creative, be wild, have fun! See if you don't agree it's a winner!

To Use:
Combine 1 Tbs Roux with 1-5 Tbs of any liquid ­ wine, beer, bourbon, fruit juice, broth, etc. Using the Spanek Vertical Roaster, brush this sauce onto the poultry before and during roasting

Other ideas for the Spanek Roux:
Reconstitute with your choice of liquid, and use as a baste for kabobs or pork chops, cooked vertically on the Spanek Conversion Kit skewers, or grilled on the outdoor barbeque.
